DISEC-
Disarmament and International Security Committee
Topic:
-
The Reemergence of the Nuclear Threat
-
Curbing the Global Threat of Cyber-Terrorism
COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is the first committee of the United Nations General Assembly. This committee addresses and deals with issues that are related to disarmament challenges to global security as well as threats to international peace. DISEC was created to deal with security matters within the UN charter or relating to any other organ of the United Nations. The Committee works in close cooperation with the United Nations Disarmament Commission and the Geneva-based Conference on Disarmament.
In this committee, we will discuss the re-emergence of the nuclear threat, debating about the power of the nuclear bomb and the ethical issues that arise with it. Furthermore, we will also be raising the issue of cyber terrorism, and the means the DISEC committee needs to take in accordance to that.
